Events
If you conduct calendar-based events, you can use the Events module to display a simple calendar of events.
How can you use a calendar?
The Events module allows you to display a Web page of "events". It has a number of uses - for example:
- If you conduct public workshops and seminars, list them here and allow people to make a booking;
- If you travel a lot, list your itineraries so that clients can contact you when you’re in their city;
- If you set aside certain times for client contact - e.g. coaching sessions - list them here to show that you’re unavailable during those times.
Examples
The Peer Support Foundation uses this to promote their workshops:
Gihan Perera uses this to promote travel, teleseminars, workshops and
other public dates:
What's in our system
- The software runs on our server ... so you can add it to any Web site,
regardless of your Web server. In fact, even if your Web server doesn't
allow CGI scripts, you can still use the software.
- Add an unlimited number of events ... so you can promote events far in the future if you choose.
- Add, delete and change events at any time ... so you can make changes
immediately and at no further cost.
- Link events directly to a shopping cart ... so you can take bookings
for events on-line
- Display the events as a list or a calendar ... so users can quickly see all
your events, or see how they fit into a month
- Daily and weekly backups ... so your events list is kept safe.
How It Works
The Events module is a software package that allows you to promote your
events.
Adding events
When you add an event, in addition to the basic information about it
(dates, title, description), you can also choose additional options:
- Map: Link to a map and driving directions
- Details: Link to a Web page with more information
- Booking: Link directly to the shopping cart module, for taking bookings on-line
Displaying events
By default, events appear as a list, ordered by date. Past events
are automatically hidden from view.
At any time, users can switch to a calendar view, showing your events
in a month-by-month calendar.
